Paper Journeys

'Paper Journeys' represents my passion to discover, depict and extol the beauty of my bicultural existence and the nature I am living in at this temporary moment.

Through out my practice, I am consistent by using my signature medium - Chinese and English newspapers - to create work. Since Chinese civilisation invented the paper, there is no better way to express my respect to my ancestry as well as my heritage.

The beauty of New Zealand is highlighted by the paper stones and columns I created to represent the forest and mountains here. They also represent the ancient and modern presence of the Maori people, and all others who have migrated here.

This piece of work is important to me as part of my own journey in life, as well as a reflection on the many migrations of paper across boundaries of all kinds.
